What Are eBooks?

eBooks are an inexpensive way to make works available for others, whether the work is new or old. They are electronic books made for use with the ubiquitous free Adobe Reader. But these are not just sterile files made for the Adobe Reader, but we have added many features.

They will work on any computer (pc, mac, unix, windows, palm computers, etc), and the formatting will always stay the same: same text on same page.

Moreover, navigation is very easy with bookmarks in the margin (like a table of contents) always ready for you to click and immediately go to a section, making quick movement from chapter to chapter and subject to subject.

Also, one can search them for any word(s), print out what you want, or transfer parts to your word processor. With the CD ROMs we sell with multiple books on them, you can search all the books simultaneously with one click, look at each reference in the context of the particular book, then paste what you need into your word processor! One can do more research in a few minutes than what it used to take weeks to do! Some eBooks can read themselves to you, and can have electronic sticky notes (Adobe Reader 6.x or higher)! We can add pictures, color headings, drawings, and so forth, though we are still working on this part. If one part of the book makes reference to a different part, a "link" can jump to it immediately, and then you can jump right back once you've read it. They are easy and powerful! For example, if you need to study baptism, you can search thousands of pages of text across many books in a blip, paste into your word processor, and so on. Our CD ROMs with eBooks come with Adobe Reader 6.x that you can install from the CD ROM without going to the Adobe web site. It is free, easy, and fast to install. BUT if you want to download their newest version now, click the icon below to get a free version of Adobe Reader from Adobe's web site. Their latest version is 7.x, and will work with out eBooks with one little hitch, which is noted in our eBooks. Also, they are inexpensive! One can have many books on one CD ROM that he/she can search in seconds. Or, you can install them on your hard drive. Many Anglican gems have long been out of print, but we at FootStool Publications are bringing them back. What you would pay for these books, if you could find them in print, would cost a small fortune. Here at FootStool Publications we are scanning them into the computer, formatting them in eBook format, and making them available.

Menu pulls up automatically. With PC users, you just put the CD ROM into your CD ROM drive, and away you go. At that point you have the option to install the version 6.x of Adobe Reader to view the ebooks, or you can run the ebooks off the CD ROM, or you can install them on your hard drive, or all three of these. The hard drive installation program for the ebooks places an icon on the desktop for easy access; plus an uninstall program is added to your Programs files under Start if you want to remover them later. You can install them on your hard drive and take the CD ROM with you for use with your lap top computer, the best of both worlds. Or install them on both home PC and lap top! In addition, we have designed them to work with palm computers (we art still working with this but think they are ready). Mac users will have to simulate the PC to use the CD ROM drive to install them on the hard drive. Once on the hard drive, Mac users will enjoy the same benefits as just mentioned.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: They will work with just about anything, including any Windows versions from Win 95 through Win XP, and also a Mac. The catch to the Mac is that these eBooks are on CD ROMs made for the PC, which means you would have to be able to simulate a PC environment to copy them to your hard drive, and then you could use them. The eBooks that you download from our site will work just fine on a Mac without PC simulation, but the ones ordered on CD ROM (most of what we have are too large to download) must be installed with PC simulation..
